Rachael Carr - Head of Tads

Rachael Carr
HELLO! My name is Rachael Carr and I am 19 years old. I was born and raised midtown Toronto, but currently reside in Montreal where I attend literature and photography classes at Concordia University - and eat a lot of Indian food. 2010 will be my 11th summer at Oconto, and in that time, I have met my best friends, developed expert dutty wine skills and laughed a great deal. I am always quite happy, and love being around people. You may remember me for my wild curly hair, or as last summer's crazy tennis lady. I love being outdoors and am a huge fan of sunscreen (contrary to popular belief, 70spf is never too much). I tend to be quite loud, and frequently forget to use my indoor voice, especially when I am excited. One of my best friends happens to be a wiener dog named Ava and I adore the Sound of Music soundtrack. The summer is a wonderful time of year to swim, be outside, and try lots of new things - I am really looking forward to what 2010 may have in store! See you soon!
Kay Watson - Head of Chips

Kay Watson
Hey Chips, I'm Kay!
I'm from Ottawa, Ontario, but currently studying at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. As much as I love being by the Atlantic Ocean here on the East Coast, my favourite body of water is Eagle Lake, home to Camp Oconto! This summer will be my tenth year of camp after beginning when I was Chip aged, and my fourth year spent as Chip staff. The thing I love most about Camp is that you have the opportunity to try so many things that you would never try in the city. For instance, last summer I conquered my fear and rode a horse! At first, I was really nervous, but then I realized that it was fun! I hope to try new things with all of you this summer. I just can't wait for Camp to begin!
Sophie Bertram - Head of Eagles

Sophie Bertram
Hey Eagles! My name is Sophie and I'm so excited to be your section head this summer 2010! I'm originally from Toronto but I go to school in London, Ontario where I am working towards a joint degree in business and political science at Western. This summer will be my 11th at Oconto and I can't wait for it to start! As a camper, my favorite activities were always swimming, drama, and arts & crafts and the best part of camp for me is definitely singing songs and cheers in the dining hall. Something you may not know about me is that I speak both Spanish and French, and I hope one day to work somewhere in Spain. I'm the eldest in my family with 4 younger siblings and I love music, chocolate milk, the colour yellow, dressing up crazy, and dance parties. I really can't wait to meet you all and I look forward to some awesome dance parties with you this summer!
Jane Tozer - Head of Ints
Hello Intermediate women of summer 2010! My name is Jane Tozer, and I am BEYOND excited to venture into my 15th summer camp experience as your section head, up front and center (yes - our location is the best) on the shores of Eagle Lake. You may (or may not) remember me as being head of swimming, or as being in a number of well-rehearsed Sunday evening concert performances. At this point in my life, I am studying psychology at Queens University, still have yet to know what I want to be when I grow up; however, let it be known that I am enjoying every second of the of the ride to finding this out, and I am especially grateful to have Oconto as a sweet and youthful pit stop on this voyage. I would now like to share with you, a few random, yet essential pieces of information about myself:

Jane Tozer
Now that you know a little bit about me, I must tell you, I am extremely eager to meet and get to know all you newcomers to Oconto and Int section, and I am once again excited to see all you rascals returning for more summer fun. If I may leave you with one task before the summer, it is to prepare yourselves to meet lifelong friends, discover new things about yourself, laugh a little more often than you're used to and to get excited for what is sure to be the most epic summer ever!!

Carolyn Neufeld
Carolyn Neufeld - Head of Seniors
Hello to all my lovely seniors! I'm Carolyn, and I'm from Aurora, Ontario. I am in my second year at Queen's University, studying life sciences and doing a minor in psychology. There are so many camp girls in Kingston and I love getting to see camp friends every day, which reminds all the time of how excited I am for summer 2010. This will be my 8th summer at Oconto, and I can honestly say my years as a senior camper were some of my favourite; clearly I just can't get enough and can't wait to return to senior section once again! Some of my most amazing memories at Oconto have been going on a 7-day Algonquin canoe trip as a senior camper, learning to roll a kayak for the first time last summer, and playing capture the flag against the Ints. I love playing any kind of game, from hockey and soccer to board games and card games, and plan on bringing my collection to camp this summer, so come find me any time I will be very excited to play!

Alexa Ironside
Alexa Ironside - Head of QCs
Hey QCs!!!
My name is Alexa Ironside and this will be my 11th summer at Oconto! I am currently living in Toronto where I am in my 4th and final year at Ryerson University in the Child and Youth Work program, however I am originally from Ottawa. Next September I am planning on attending techers college so I can travel the world and teach abroad! I had a fantastic summer last year as head of QCs and I am counting down the days until this one! Look forward to seeing all of you this summer - it's going to be amazing!!
Cat Powell - Head of QCs

Cat Powell
Greetings online Camp Oconto fan base! My name is Cat Powell and for those of you born in the year of 1994, I'm about to be your new best friend! I hail from Toronto, Ontario but currently spend my days beside the sea in Halifax. I am slowly but surely finishing my degree in International Development Studies and Environmental Science at Dalhousie University and in the future, hope to spend my life painting surf boards, planting trees, and being awesome. The things that you must know about me are as follows: I am a choirmaster. I am a certified boater. I like raw fish and pastries separately but never together. I am an avid worshiper of the great Canadian songstress Celine Dion. I am passionate about sensible waistlines. I have an aversion to Twilight, but not to Robert Pattinson. In my youth, I collected upwards of 125 beanie babies. I hope you can get on board with some of these interests of mine. I should add that my life's greatest joy is tie dye, so please bring lots of inexpensive white clothing to camp. I am looking forward to spending my sixteenth summer at camp with you as you embark on your sixteenth year of life!
Victoria Forbes - Head of Semis

Victoria Forbes
Hey, I'm Victoria! Hailing from Toronto, I've spent the past 8 summers at Oconto, and I could not be more excited for my 9th to start. Spending so much time at camp in the past few years has led to some great stories and even better memories; so many that I can't pick just one favourite. However, I do believe that anything that happens on Tad Mountain is pretty spectacular.
Currently I am in Teachers' College at Queen's University. I am in classes in Kingston every other month and then student teaching at an Elementary school in Toronto for the other months. Working with the students had been fun, especially getting to help supervise the school's mountain biking club and teaching a dance routine as part of the school's daily physical activity. Really I love any part of teaching that reminds me of being a camp counsellor! Along with camp my other passions include traveling, dancing like a fool, anything neon or sparkly, and Starbucks. I'm psyched to see you all soon!
Nora Hammond - Assistant Director

Nora Hammond
Hi there! My name is Nora and I am very excited to be the assistant director for summer 2010. I grew up in Ottawa, Ontario and I am now finishing up my fourth and final year at Dalhousie University in Halifax. I am working towards a BA with a double major in English and Philosophy and am very much looking forward to being done! My favourite things include lasagna, live music, dancing, my dog Tucker, singing at the top of my lungs when no one else is around, and cheesy reality television shows. I'm terrified of spiders and much prefer to be cold than hot. It is a dream of mine to travel somewhere exotic and stand beside an elephant. Depending on how the standing goes, I might also like to ride one. My favourite activity at camp has always been diving-specifically the fun level-because I love running off tower. This will be my fifteenth summer on Eagle Lake, making it hard for me to narrow all of my wonderful and hilarious experiences at Oconto down to one favourite memory. My short list of favourites would definitely include hanging with Bruce at his barbeques, watching tad dances at Sunday Evening Concert, and having impromptu dance parties on the porch of Labbett Lodge. I can't wait for the summer to start so I can get to know more about all of you. See you soon!
