Section Heads

MaddieHello Tads! My name is Maddie Kotzer and I cannot wait to spend the summer with you as your Section Head! This will be my 12th year at Oconto, after starting as a Tad all those years ago. As a camper my favorite activities were kayaking, swimming, and arts & crafts. Though, I do love a good dance party and sing song as well! During the year, I am in the Concurrent Education program at Queen’s University, with the hopes of becoming an elementary school teacher when I graduate. I am super excited to see all of you, new and returning campers alike, and am counting down the days ‘til I am back on the shores of Eagle Lake! Get excited for tons of fun up on Tad Mountain, we are sure to have a blast! Can’t wait to for the summer to begin!

Hey Chips! My name is Chelsea Hill and cannot wait to spend the summer with all of you! This will be my ninth summer at Oconto and I’m so excited to be switching it up and spending it in a new section! During the year, I spend most of my time in Waterloo, Ontario studying Business at Wilfred Laurier University. To make my time away from camp more bearable, I’ve started to take diving lessons because it is my favourite camp activity in the entire world! As a camper, I loved any activity that involved the water and would spend most of my free time catching frogs to keep in my zebo. This summer, I am excited to say that I will be spending over 100 days on Eagle Lake and there is no other place I would rather be. Whether you are a returning camper or new to Oconto, I cannot wait for you to arrive and I hope you love it as much as I do! I can’t wait to meet you all this summer! Let the countdown begin and let’s make it the best summer yet!

Hey Eagles!!! As some of you may remember my name is Lindsay Munoz and I am so, so, so excited to be Section Head of Eagles this summer! This will be my 14th summer at Camp Oconto and I have been a counsellor in Eagles every summer since 2008. During the year I have been spending most of my time in Kingston, Ontario at Queen’s University where I will be graduating with a degree in kinesiology this spring! As a camper my favorite activities were horseback riding, swimming lessons and my absolute favorite was and still is sailing. I also really enjoy all the activities at camp and I cannot wait to take B&Ps with each and every one of you. This summer it is my goal to learn how to windsurf and I also hope to conquer my fear of diving off of tower. I cannot wait to meet all of you. Get ready for one of your best summers yet Eags! The countdown to summer 2013 is on!

Hello Ints of summer 2013!!! My name is Kay and I am thrilled to be joining all of you in Ints this upcoming summer. I first fell in love with Oconto as Int Staff in 2007 and I can’t wait for you to love it as much as I do! At Camp I am usually found near Pottery and Arts and Crafts where I’ve have the good fortune to work in the past. I hold a special place in my heart for sailing and Main Dock where I try to visit every single day of the summer. This summer, I hope to make it down to Turtle Bay and learn to roll a kayak or to help you with your canoeing levels. My favorite evening program is anything that ends in a dance party and my favorite camp food is hash browns. I am never without a hair scrunchie, a busy t-shirt, or my water bottle. I know we are going to be the best of friends and I can’t wait to choreograph a Sunday Evening Concert dance or hang out at campfire with you. Start your countdowns now and I will see you on the shores of Eagle Lake soon!

HELLOOOOO SENIORS OF 2013! For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Sarah Latremoille and I am beyond excited to be your Section Head this year! This summer will mark my ninth year at Oconto, and my fourth on staff. Some of you may recognize me from teaching J-strokes on canoe dock, belting out cheers in the dining hall, and sporting some outrageous outfits at dress-ups. During the rest of the year, I live in Kingston, Ontario where I am in my second year at Queen’s University studying Film and Media. My favourite activities as a camper would have to be diving, canoeing, and special arts. I love performing crazy dances and making a complete fool of myself at Sunday Evening Concert. I have a guilty pleasure for reality TV, anything pink, and Justin Bieber. My favourite evening program is capture the flag, and I look forward to dominating at it with all of you this summer. My camp goal for this year is to learn how to sail. I am so pumped to be able to hang out with all of you fun-loving Senior gals! Summer is just around the corner and I hope you are just as excited about it as I am!

Hello QCs of 2013! As you may already know, my name is Alice Nelson, and I am so excited to be your Section Head this summer! I was a QC so many years ago, that this adventure is going to be as new to me as it is to you (which I think is going to be really cool)! By the time we meet at the end of June or July, I will have graduated from Queen’s University with a degree in Geography, probably purchased a really cute sunhat for the summer, and will have discovered a new song to be obsessed with a play on repeat (just warning you now…). I like crafts, all kinds of flowers and pulling friendly pranks (mainly on other sections and Alexa Ironside). Along with teaching you tricks of the trade, becoming really really good friends and building you up to be the best staff members Oconto has ever seen, I hope we can make this the best and most memorable summer that we’ve ever had!

Hello Semis 2013! Has a pretty nice ring to it doesn’t it? I mean when was the last time a semi year had four consecutive numbers in it? 0,1,2,3! Which means that, if you didn’t already know it, you guys are pretty special. I can see it already: Sequential Semis! As some of you may know, my name is Carolyn Neufeld, and I can’t express to you how thrilled I am to be spending my 11th summer at Oconto with all of you. I am counting down the days until our lives can once again be filled with Laffy Taffy, capture the flag, and gazing out across Eagle Lake as Joey diligently attempts to catch a fish. This past year for me has been filled with some of my favourite things: travel, bubble baths, and The Bachelor. Some other things you may want to know about me? I almost cried tears of joy when the NHL lockout ended, dresses are my go-to outfit 365 days a year, and I will gladly play any kind of game with you anytime.
I can wholeheartedly say that my Semi year was one of my favorites at Oconto and I am so excited for you to have this amazing experience. Get ready for a summer filled with silly laughter, substantial learning, and spectacular friends. I can promise you it will be one you’ll never forget!

Hey! For those of you who don't know me, my name is Alexa Ironside and I am Oconto's Assistant Director! I am absolutely thrilled to be returning for another wonderful summer at Oconto. Last summer was great and I have a feeling that this summer is going to be even better! Currently, I am living in Ottawa where I work as an elementary teacher. This is my second year teaching and although I love my job in the city, I cannot wait to return to Oconto and jump into Eagle Lake. I first starting going to Oconto when I was an Int camper (which feels like just yesterday!) and 14 summers later I have worked as Waterfront Supervisor, Head of Ints, QCs, and Semis and now I work side by side with Lisa and the Section Heads. At Oconto, I love anything and everything water related. You will definitely be seeing me this summer at diving, windsurfing, kayaking and you can bet that I will be climbing our new rock wall! I'm super excited to see all of you again, and if this is your first summer at Oconto I look forward to meeting you! Start packing your dress up clothes, warming up your 'Thursday night campfire' singing voices and practicing your dining hall hand games because it's going to be an awesome-amazing-fabulous summer!!!
