Job Description
Camp Oconto is a private summer camp for girls from 7-15 years of age. Oconto is located on Eagle Lake, 60 kilometres north of Kingston and one kilometre west of Hwy. # 38. There are approximately 85 staff members, which includes counsellors, maintenance and kitchen staff. Oconto has a capacity for 208 campers. In addition we have counsellors-in-training (16 and 17 year olds) who participate in a two year C.I.T. program.
The counsellor is one of the most important people to a girl's happiness while she is attending camp. Therefore, Oconto gives a great deal of time and thought to the selection of each staff member. Counsellors are chosen for their leadership qualities, maturity, natural love of children and their experience with camp activities and instruction. Our staff have a valid First Aid and CPR certification, as do our counsellors in training.
Why join the staff at Oconto?
Working at Camp Oconto provides a great deal of training and experience that will benefit you in many ways. Whether it's during the pre-camp week or all of the hands-on work that you will do over the course of your nine-week stay, Camp Oconto will equip you to deliver your best (because that's exactly what we'll need from you). Part of this training includes learning vital job skills, including communication, teamwork and leadership. Employers also look for people with "people skills", and a camp job offers you experience that develops those skills. And some experiences can only be found in a camp setting. You have the opportunity to change the lives of the children who you work with. And working at camp allows you to meet new and interesting people who often share similar interests.
Positions Available
